GLUE and its partners are pleased to invite you to attend the...

Now is a time of intense reevaluation and immense opportunity for those who strive daily to create secure, equitable, and sustainable cities around the Great Lakes. The Obama Administration has demonstrated a commitment to restoring America's cities, but success in this will only be possible if people and organizations on the ground let their voices be heard. Cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, and Detroit share unique challenges and deserve a unique articulation of what support can help us be successful.

Please join other practitioners--including NGOs, local officials, urban advocates, agency heads and their deputies, and other stakeholders--from Great Lakes metro communities who seek to use the stimulus bill, future allocations, and other federal support to promote sustainable and equitable cities, for the Great Lakes Metros and the New Opportunity Summit in Buffalo on June 18-19, 2009.

Topics include the expansion of weatherization and green jobs programs, models for regional governance, innovative uses of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and Great Lakes restoration. Whether investigating new opportunities or scaling up existing programs, attendees will gain a birds-eye view of trends in their field; will learn best practice strategies for ensuring maximum impact for chronically challenged older industrial cities and neighborhoods; and will explore the opportunities to influence the direction of future federal support.

The Summit aims to provide both a vision and a framework for the long-term revitalization that has eluded the region for too long.

Registration is OPEN NOW and is only $25. Find more information and register at http://greatlakesmetros.wordpress.com, or by emailing glueteam@gluespace.org. Please join us.
